Douglas G. Blair, Partner

Doug Blair was born in British Columbia, Canada and was raised at Langview Holstein Farm, Langley, B.C. He is a graduate in Agriculture from the University of British Columbia. In 1968, Doug founded Western Breeders Service, a forerunner company of Alta Genetics Inc. He was C.E.O. of Western Breeders until 1988 when a merger resulted in the formation of Alta Genetics Inc. and he continued as C.E.O until January 1, 2002 at which time he retired.

Doug was the founding President of the Canadian Association of Animal Breeders and Canadian Embryo Exporters Association, and is a Past President of the Canadian Livestock Exporters Association. He also served as Co-Chairman of the Canadian Sectoral Advisory Group on International Trade for 4 years, an advisory group to the Canadian Ministers of Agriculture and Trade.

Doug is a Director of Canadian Dairy Network(CDN) and is past Chairman of CDN and the National Association of Animal Breeders in the U.S.  Doug has been awarded the Pinnacle Award for outstanding business success, the Canadian Export Achievement Award, the Commemorative Medal for Contributions to Canada and was inducted into the Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame in November 2003.

Doug was formerly an official Holstein judge and judged shows in five provinces as well as Argentina, Columbia, and France. His small Langmont Holsteins bred 1 Class Extra sire and co-owned the first 2 Red and White Holsteins nominated for All~Canadian.
